Welcome to the Wilseyville Library
By Dee Middleton, Founder

The Wilseyville Library and Community Museum (WLCM) is located in the historic Wilseyville Lumber Camp off Rail Road Flat Road in the little township of Wilseyville, nestled between West Point and Rail Road Flat in California's historic Gold Country. This little gem of a library and museum is an affiliate of the Blue Mountain Community Renewal Council (BMCRC). It is a place where its patrons, in coming months, can pursue educational and personal development, historical and genealogical research, job opportunities and community service in an environment unique to most libraries, museums and resource centers. Unlike traditional libraries, WLCM’s shelves house both children and adult classics (ancient and modern) and an ever expanding collection of historical documents, photos, and memorabilia germane to the northwestern region of Calaveras County. Members of WLCM’s Board of Directors serve as curators of "The Ann Gregorian Gravitt Collection,” an assemblage of nearly 2,000 binders containing newspaper and magazine clippings, brochures that features articles (vintage 1940s through 1980s) on all manner of subjects, each tediously indexed alphabetically.

Weekday hours of operation are variable. The Library is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekends -- whenever the American Flag is waving at 3962 Blagen Boulevard (Lot #1 in the Wilseyville Camp).

Memberships, volunteer time and cash donations are WeLCoMe! Please consider joining WLCM or making a donation of $10, $25, $50 (dare we suggest $100?) to help keep the library doors open. Because of its geographical remoteness and its unique inventory, WLCM continues to be of social, scholastic, and communal benefit to the citizens of Wilseyville and its neighboring townships of West Point, Rail Road Flat and Glencoe. In addition to local residents, the Library’s guest book contains names of visitors and supporters from all parts of California and out of state as well.

Please note that your donation is tax deductible, inasmuch as WLCM has 501(c)(3) status (Tax ID #68-0346108) through its affiliation with the BMCRC. Checks made payable to the BMCRC and earmarked for the Wilseyville Library and Community Museum (WLCM) can be sent direct to the BMCRC at P. O. Box 1441, West Point, CA 95255. A Donor Card will be mailed to you acknowledging your contribution.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and your support.
